Why We Created SAPHETTE

Our Story

SAPHETTE was founded in London by a group of lesbians who were tired of seeing sex toys that weren’t made for us — for our bodies, our rhythms, or our relationships. Too many toys in the market are still built around cis-hetero fantasies: phallic shapes, penetration-focused design, and a narrow vision of pleasure that leaves out the beauty and nuance of lesbian intimacy.
Our First Toy

Even the toys made “for couples” failed us. They lacked coordination. They couldn’t mirror our movements, match our pace, or allow us to feel each other in sync. We were left out of the pleasure equation. So we created what we couldn’t find: the world’s first AI-powered sex toy designed for lesbian couples — Duopeak. Our Name

Our name, SAPHETTE, is a tribute to Sappho — the ancient poet whose love for women gave rise to the word sapphic. Her spirit of intimacy, creativity, and unapologetic queerness inspires everything we do — from design to desire.
